Yaiza to Invest €150,000 in Upgrades at Playa Blanca Beach

Yaiza Ayuntamiento has announced a €150,000 investment to improve facilities and services at Playa Blanca Beach after the popular beach was once again awarded a Blue Flag.

The funding, drawn from the municipality’s budget surplus, will be used to carry out one of the most popular proposals submitted through Yaiza’s participatory budgeting programme, giving residents a direct say in local improvements.

Mayor Óscar Noda praised the community’s involvement, saying Playa Blanca Beach is a strong example of how public participation can shape local projects. He also thanked residents for contributing ideas through the initiative coordinated by Councillor Águeda Cedrés.

Councillor for Beaches Beatriz Vázquez said the beach already offers lifeguard services, accessible ramps, showers, footbaths and nearby public toilets, but the council wants to make the area even more attractive and welcoming. Planned improvements include new amenities, updated signage and repairs to existing walls.

This year also marks a milestone for Yaiza, as the renovated Playa Blanca commercial port received its first Blue Flag, joining Playa Blanca Beach and Puerto Calero Marina. It is the first time three Blue Flags have flown along Yaiza’s southern coastline.
