Yaiza Ayuntamiento has once again carried out maintenance works on the dirt roads to the beaches of Papagayo, addressing the damage that is caused by the amount of vehicles in the summer months.

The council also issued a pointed reminder to the Cabildo that it shared responsibility for the upkeep of the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches, the protected area in which the beaches are located.

We don’t shirk our responsibilities,” said Mayor Óscar Noda “But we call upon the Cabildo to fulfil its duties, including regular maintenance of the dirt tracks, renewal of signs, cleaning and equipment.”

The laws governing the protected natural area of Los Ajaches prohibit the construction of tarmac roads, meaning that the dirt tracks must be regularly rolled and potholes filled.
