The Yaiza Ayuntamiento, in collaboration with local police and the animal protection service, have acquired three new microchip readers to identify lost or escaped pets.
The Zoocan tool allows local police to identify animals with microchips, locate their owners name and home address so that the pet can be returned.
Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, stated “It is part of responsible ownership that more citizens comply with this obligation as dog and cat owners [referring to owners’ obligation to microchip their pets].”
