Maritime Rescue services picked up nine people at 11 pm last night after a sunken Zodiac semi-inflatable raft was located 80 kms to the south-east of Arrecife.
Survivors claim that the boat left the Moroccan coast carrying a total of 27 migrants, meaning that 18 people are still missing and must almost certainly be presumed dead.
Five pateras (migrant boats) containing a total of 199 people have been intercepted by Sea Rescue services this Wednesday morning. All were taken to the Muelle de las Cebollas in Arrecife, where the Red Cross attended to them.
