Visitors planning a trip to Timanfaya National Park this summer should be aware of changes to how access to the iconic Montañas del Fuego is managed.

From this Monday June 15th, the Cabildo has introduced a new timed entry system for visits to one of the island’s most popular attractions. The move is designed to improve visitor management, reduce congestion and help protect the unique volcanic landscape that attracts hundreds of thousands of people each year.

New Timed Entry System

Until 14th June, visitors could continue to access the park during normal opening hours, subject to availability. However, from this Monday onwards, all visitors purchasing tickets online must select a specific entry time in advance.

The new process requires visitors to:

  1. Select the date of their visit.
  2. Check available time slots.
  3. Choose their preferred entry time.
  4. Arrive at the ticket office 15 minutes before the selected time to validate their ticket.

Availability of entry slots will depend on daily visitor capacity and demand.

Park authorities are encouraging visitors to book well in advance, particularly during busy holiday periods, although they note that short waiting times may still occur during peak demand.

Important Information for Visitors

Visitors are advised to download their ticket or QR code before arriving at the park and have it ready for presentation.

Tickets are valid only for the selected date and time and cannot be changed, exchanged or refunded.

Those claiming resident or discounted fares must present the appropriate physical documentation at the ticket office. Failure to provide valid supporting documents will result in the ticket being cancelled without refund.
