César Manrique’s wind sculpture at Montaña Blanca has been reinstalled at its usual location following restoration work to address structural damage caused by age and adverse weather conditions.

The distinctive mobile sculpture, which consists of multicoloured right-angled pieces, has been a landmark for many years at the roundabout where the LZ-35 meets the LZ-301.

Workers from the Cabildo completed the installation this week, after the sculpture was removed in May last year to allow repairs to be carried out.

The project forms part of the Cabildo’s ongoing programme to restore and maintain the series of sculptures designed by Manrique across Lanzarote.

Other recent work has included the restoration of the “Fobos” sculpture in Tahíche, repairs to the piece in Arrieta and the start of restoration work on the sculpture dedicated to Pepín Ramírez.
