Last night the San Bartolomé Ayuntamiento revealed their new “Escultura al vino” sculpture by Lanzarote artist César Corujo Saavedra which will kick off a new sculptures project in the municipality. We think the new sculpture looks great, especially when lit by purple lights.

In the presentation of the new sculpture the Mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, explained that location chosen for the first new sculpture, at the entrance of La Florida and El Islote, “has been chosen specifically for being the gateway to the spectacular landscape of La Geria, serving as tribute to the wine traditions of Lanzarote.”.

The sculpture, by Lanzarote artist César Corujo Saavedra, is titled “Escultura al vino” (Sculpture to Wine in English) and was lit up in purple during the presentation.

The placement of the new sculpture also acts as a nod to the fact that three of the most popular wineries in Lanzarote are located in the municipality of San Bartolomé, highlighting the hard work of the winegrowers.

The aim of the new sculpture project is the enrich San Bartolomé. Saavedra’s new sculpture is only the first in the ambitious plan.
