Almost a million Euros will be invested in adapting the multi-purpose building at Arrecife’s General Hospital to receive geriatric patients and staff from the Hospital insular.
The Lanzagrava company will receive €775, 000 to carry out the works, while €191,000 will be dedicated to drafting and technical matters
The decision to transfer operations from the Hospital Insular has been taken due to “structural deficiencies” at the 76-year-old hospital near Arrecife’s Charco de San Ginés.
However, the absence of any plans to reform and renovate the Hospital Insular has caused controversy. Recently, around 7,000 people marched to the hospital to demand a commitment that the facilities would be reformed and patients returned.
