Maximum temperatures of 34 degrees are predicted for this weekend, as the heat gradually increases over the next few days.

The strong winds of the last few days are likely to die down, and temperatures will rise from Thursday afternoon. This will be accompanied by a calima as the wind shifts eastward, although no warnings have yet been issued.

The highest temperatures are forecast for the weekend, when temperatures could reach the 30s in central and southern parts of the island.  There’ll be bright sunshine and UV levels of 9 mean that you should consider protection if you’re spending much time outdoors.

The mini-heatwave is expected to ease off on Monday, with a return of more normal spring weather.
