Canary Day celebrations took place throughout Lanzarote yesterday, 30th May, as all eight islands celebrated Canarian identity with music, food and games.

Arrecife’s seafront was packed with revellers, many in traditional Canarian dress, who enjoyed a day of music including a headline performance by the locally-born timple maestro Benito Cabrera. Stalls offered food, drink and a children’s zone was full of chinijos busy having fun.

In Yaiza, attendance at the Cheese & Goat Fair exceeded expectations, and the fair will continue today from 10 am, with several musical performances scheduled for the afternoon.

Celebrations also took place in Playa Blanca, Teguise, Puerto del Carmen, San Bartolomé and playa Honda, Mancha Blanca and Haría.
