The Cabildo has unanimously approved the 2026 hunting calendar for Lanzarote and La Graciosa, clearing the way for the season to begin on August 16th.
The decision was endorsed by all representatives, including officials from the Canarian Government, the Lanzarote Hunting Federation, local hunting clubs, Timanfaya National Park, the State Administration’s Island Directorate, the Lanzarote Island Council’s Agriculture and Livestock Department, and environmental organizations.
Under the approved regulations, hunting will be permitted for rabbits, barbary partridge, and rock pigeons. The agreement also establishes rules covering hunting methods, bag limits, the use of dogs, ferrets, and birds of prey, as well as restrictions in protected natural areas and environmentally sensitive zones.
The rabbit hunting season will run from August 16th to November 29th, with hunting permitted on Thursdays and Sundays. Hunting of the barbary partridge and rock pigeon will take place from September 20th to November 22nd, on Sundays and on two Thursdays in October, subject to the approved quotas and restrictions.
The Cabildo also confirmed the continuation of restrictions in protected natural areas, Natura 2000 sites, and other key wildlife conservation zones. In addition, a special controlled hunting scheme will remain in place for up to 25 hunters who are not residents of Lanzarote.
