The Lanzarote Cabildo has awarded 57 tourism services with the “SICTED Commitment to Responsible Tourism” distinction for 2025.
The event was attended by Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort, the Canary Islands Government’s Director-General for Infrastructure, Sustainability and Tourism Quality Héctor Mateo Castañeyra, and SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote CEO Héctor Fernández, alongside representatives from across the island’s tourism sector.
Four organisations received the certification for the first time this year: Barceló Playa Blanca, Tías Local Police, Blve Homes and the Travellers’ Assistance Office at the Arrecife Bus Interchange. A further 53 tourism services renewed their certification, reinforcing their commitment to continuous improvement and visitor care.
Lanzarote currently has 96 tourism services carrying the SICTED “Commitment to Tourism Quality” seal, with 114 services participating in the programme overall.
The recognised businesses and organisations span a wide range of sectors, including hotels, rural accommodation, tourist attractions, beaches, travel agencies, car hire companies, tourist information offices, transport providers, shops, cafés and official tourist guides. Among those recognised were Aloe Plus Lanzarote, CACT Lanzarote, CICAR, Autos Cabrera Medina, Payless, Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park, Club La Santa and Lanzarote Bus.
Speaking at the ceremony, Oswaldo Betancort praised the award recipients and stressed that tourism excellence “is not built solely by institutions”, but through the collective efforts of businesses, professionals and public services across the island. He added that Lanzarote must continue to focus on service quality, sustainability and responsible tourism in an increasingly competitive market.
