A popular bar in the centre of Costa Teguise was hit by a kitchen fire on Monday morning, though authorities have confirmed that no injuries were sustained during the incident.

According to La Voz, the emergency services were alerted at 9.43 am to reports of a blaze at a premises on Avenida Islas Canarias.

Upon arrival, firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium found that the area had already been secured by local police and Civil Guard officers who were first on the scene.

The responding crew quickly identified the source of the fire as an industrial deep fryer. As a precaution, they immediately cut off the electricity and gas supply to the building.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and then covered the unit and sprayed water around its exterior to accelerate the cooling of the oil.

Once the fire was fully extinguished, they conducted a thorough inspection to ensure there were no remaining hotspots or danger of the fire restarting.

The owners were advised that the premises must be inspected and certified by authorised technicians before they would be permitted to reopen for business.
