Hunter to appear in court over alleged firearm incident in Haría

A hunter will face magistrates today after allegedly firing his rifle in the direction of a Haría resident, according to Diario de Lanzarote.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning, when a Haría resident heard shots near her home. On investigating she saw a hunter carrying a riflle, accompanied by his dogs.

She shouted to the hunter that he was in an official safety zone and should be carrying his weapon broken or unloaded, but was ignored. When the hunter entered her land, she got into her car to approach him and repeat her warning, but a flock of partridges were suddenly flushed.

According to the woman, the hunter shot twice at the birds, in her direction. Three witnesses will attend court to back up her testimony.
