Friends and colleagues of Paul Brian Rowand, who died earlier this month, are appealing for donations to cover the costs of his cremation.

Paul was the head chef at a local bar in Puerto del Carmen and had lived on Lanzarote for around ten years. His body was discovered in his apartment on July 13th, three days before his 58th birthday.

Colleagues and friends took charge of the cremation, which was made possible by a loan of €1, 450 from “a very generous person who wishes to remain anonymous.”

The group now wish to pay back the loan, and have opened a GoFundMe page for donations, which will be gratefully received.

The group describe Paul as a “much-loved friend” and say “If you knew him, shared a laugh with him, worked with him, or simply believe everyone deserves a dignified farewell, we would be deeply grateful for your support.”
