A four-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool in a hotel in Puerto del Carmen on Sunday.
The child was part of a French family that was on holiday on the island. The lifesaver on duty and health service workers attempted to resuscitate the child, but their efforts were in vain. According to the Canarias 1,500 Kms de Costa organisation, further information about how the incident occurred is not known.
It is the second incident in which a child has drowned in a swimming pool this summer, after last month’s tragic incident in Playa Blanca.
