195 migrants have arrived on Lanzarote in the last 24 hours, on a total of four boats. Three of the vessels were intercepted at sea, while a fourth put ashore at Punta Mujeres as the seaside village celebrated its annual fiestas.
A video released by Lancelot Digital shows one of the boats arriving at Punta Mujeres, and illustrates how dangerous the crossings are. The small inflatable is packed with 47 people (8 of whom were women), who appear overjoyed and relieved to reach land.
The floor of the boat is filled with inner tubes that would be used as floats in case of capsizement or sinking.
