Firefighters were called out in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a fire broke out in the garden of a property in Playa Blanca.
The incident happened at around 3:00 a.m. on Calle Nepal in Playa Blanca. Emergency services were alerted by the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES), with initial reports suggesting a house fire.
However, once crews arrived at the scene, alongside officers from the Yaiza Local Police and the Guardia Civil, they discovered that the blaze was confined to the garden area of the property and had spread to a palm tree.
Firefighters used both spray and jet hoses to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further.
According to the Security and Emergency Consortium, a large accumulation of dry leaves and vegetation in the garden contributed to the rapid spread of the fire before it reached the palm tree.
