The Canary Islands attracted more than €531 million in hotel investment during the first six months of 2026, representing 21% of all hotel investment in Spain, according to a new report by real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield.
Across Spain, hotel investment reached €2.53 billion between January and June, a 36% increase compared with the same period in 2025. The consultancy expects 2026 to become another record-breaking year, with total investment likely to exceed the €4 billion achieved in 2025.
The report highlights the continued strength of Spain’s tourism industry as the main factor driving investor confidence. According to Luis Arsuaga, Partner and Co-Head of Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality in Spain, the country’s reputation as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations is attracting strong interest in luxury hotels, repositioning projects, and lower-risk investments.
Spain’s islands continue to dominate the market, accounting for 48% of total hotel investment. The Balearic Islands attracted 27% of investment, while the Canary Islands secured 21%. Madrid followed with 18%, reflecting growing interest from international investors.
The first half of 2026 also confirmed a growing trend towards investment in economy hotels located outside major cities and established luxury destinations, where rising prices have encouraged investors to seek better value in secondary markets.
Bruno Hallé, Partner and Co-Head of Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality in Spain, said strong tourism demand and the quality of hotels coming onto the market continue to support high levels of investor interest.
Among the largest deals completed so far this year was Calena Partners’ €200 million acquisition of three hotels from HIP, including the Corallium Beach by Lopesan in Gran Canaria, alongside two Mallorca properties. Together, the hotels offer around 870 rooms.
Tenerife also featured prominently, with Arcano Partners acquiring three properties and the Tivoli La Caleta hotel changing hands in a deal valued at €140 million.
In total, 88 hotels comprising approximately 12,200 rooms were sold across Spain during the first half of 2026.
