Calima arrives on Lanzarote

Lanzarote has awoken to landscapes of blurred horizons and fuzzy mountains this morning, as the predicted calima arrives on the island.

Measurements from stations in Arrecife and Costa Teguise indicate that the air quality at 8 am this morning was at levels classified as “extremely unfavourable”.

Usual recommendations apply in the case of such conditions, with those classed as vulnerable (the elderly, infants, pregnant women and those suffering from respiratory conditions) advised to remain indoors with the windows and doors closed, drink plenty of water and avoid physical exercise.
