Lanzarote awoke this morning to find itself veiled in a calima, with blurry horizons and mountains barely visible through a haze of airborne dust.

A yellow alert for suspended dust in the air is now in place and will remain operative until midday tomorrow (Wednesday) April 1st. Otherwise, the forecast is for sunshine and warm temperatures in the low 20s.

As usual with calimas, vulnerable people such as those with respiratory difficulties are advised to avoid activities in the open air, stay indoors with doors and windows closed, remain hydrated and call 112 if symptoms worsen.
