The Cabildo have employed 158 people as part of the “Cuidando Lanzarote” employment plan which will see them clean coastlines and roadsides thanks to an investment of over 12.5 million euros to improve Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
Cabildo President, Osawldo Betancort, received the new workers yesterday morning along with Jacobo Medina and Ascensión Toledo.
Financed by FDCAN funds, the Cabildo have allocated just over 12.5 million euros to the maintenance and upkeep of the island for the 2023-2025 period.
Betancort stated that the investment “allows us to take care of the coast, the central areas of the island and, ultimately, improve the appearance of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.”
“The important thing is to meet our goal of lowering the unemployment rate on the island and try to strengthen and enhance its Biosphere Reserve status.”
