Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort has raised the idea of a second entrance for Lanzarote’s César Manrique Airport.

Speaking on Lancelot TV, Betancort suggested that a second entrance could be developed from the Matagorda roundabout, connecting with the LZ-40 road. This would, he said “break the bottleneck, alleviate congestion and improve mobility.”

The project is just an idea at the moment, and Betancort recognised that the proposed development may not be popular with San Bartolomé’s Mayor, although Tías would probably welcome the idea. “As President, I’m in favour, because the more accessible the airport is, the less we’ll pollute the island,” he said.
