Self-employed workers (autónomos) will once again demonstrate in Arrecife on Monday the 2nd March.

The Platform for the Dignity of Autónomos 30N, which is organising the march, claims that the government has taken no action following an earlier protest held on the 30th November last year.

The platform claims the self-employed sector continues to suffer high taxes, high social security contributions that do not take actual income into account, a lack of social protection comparable to that of other workers, and bureaucratic obstacles to receiving aid and assistance.

The demonstration will begin at 10 am on Monday at Arrecife’s Ayuntamiento and proceed along the seafront to the Government Delegation building, where a manifesto will be read out. Organisers say that any self-employed workers, their families or supporters are welcome to join.
