Lanzarote’s Health Directorate has presented its long-term plan for healthcare on the island to the Canarian Health Service.

The plan is based on the projected increase in population on the island over the next 20 years from the current 170,000 to around 200,000.

This will require an increase in health facilities, and the plan envisages a brand-new General Hospital complex located in Tahiche, on the eastern side of the LZ-1 main road as it leaves Arrecife.

This would become the island’s primary healthcare facility, while the existing hospital complex at Argana would be devoted to outpatient care, rehabilitation and maternity/childcare.
