The yellow alerts for heat and dust issued by Spain’s meteorological agency, AEMET have been extended to today, Tuesday 15th September

The heat alert applies from 10 am until 6 pm, with forecasts of temperatures reaching 36 degrees Celsius. The southern half of the island could experience highs of 37 degrees.

The calima (airborne dust) alert applies from 10 am until 3pm and predicts airborne dust that will reduce visibility to three kilometres. In some areas, that may fall to one kilometre.

In the later afternoon, north winds are forecast to pick up, bringing cooler conditions for the night and the following days. The current forecast for Thursday and Friday is fore cloudy days with a fair possibility of rain showers.
