Mumbai Masala is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the opening of its first restaurant on Lanzarote. This was the starting point of a story marked by flavour, trust, and the people who have supported the business throughout this decade; a story that has been consolidated with five establishments and another opening shortly.
What began as a proposal to bring Indian cuisine to the island has become, ten years later, a project that has grown both within and beyond Lanzarote. Currently, Mumbai Masala has five locations open and is preparing for the upcoming opening of a sixth establishment – a new step on a journey that still maintains the essence with which it was born.
Throughout those ten years, Mumbai Masala has not only served Indian food. It has built relationships: with the people who have been part of its team and have contributed to the growth of the project; and with the customers, families, friends, and visitors who have returned time and again, bringing fulfilment to every stage of the journey.
“When I think about these ten years, I don’t think about the restaurants, I think about the people,” says Rohit Datwani, founder and director of Mumbai Masala.
From the very start, Mumbai Masala has helped many people discover and enjoy Indian cuisine, an art marked by aromas, spices, and a new way of understanding food. However, over time, that experience went beyond the food itself, becoming a space for meeting, closeness, and trust. This connection with people has been, precisely, one of the driving forces behind the brand’s growth. The trust of those who believed in Mumbai Masala from day one; of those who sat down for the first time to try a different cuisine, and of those who, over the years, have made its restaurants a place to return to time and time again.
“Thank you to everyone who has worked with us. Thank you to those who have trusted Mumbai Masala from Day One. Thank you to those who have been by our side for these ten years. We didn’t build this story alone. We built it together,” adds Datwani.
Now with a presence also in Tenerife, Mumbai Masala faces this new stage looking to the future, but without losing sight of its origins on Lanzarote, the island where it opened its first location and where a journey began that continues to grow today.
This tenth anniversary thus becomes an opportunity to thank, celebrate, and recognize all the people who have been part of the journey.
