Woman Rescued After Injury at Caldera Blanca

A woman was evacuated from Caldera Blanca yesterday after suffering a fractured ankle.

Emergency services were called to the volcano at around 3 pm, after a fall was reported. A splint was applied to the victim’s leg and she was carried to an ambulance on a stretcher.

It is the latest of several similar incidents to take place on the route, which requires walking over rough lava and ascending on loose scree.
