La Geria will once again take centre stage on 13th and 14th June as the Lanzarote Wine Run and Wine Festival returns for its 14th edition, combining sport, gastronomy, wine culture and environmental awareness in one of the island’s most distinctive landscapes.

The event was officially presented on Monday at Finca Testeina by representatives from the Cabildo, Yaiza Ayuntamiento, the Canary Islands Institute of Food Quality (ICCA) and the Lanzarote Wine Regulatory Council.

Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort described the Wine Run as a showcase for Lanzarote’s identity, highlighting its role in promoting the island’s unique agricultural landscape and wine-growing traditions.

“The Wine Run has become an immersive experience that allows visitors to discover and enjoy La Geria in a way that respects the environment while celebrating our wine culture and agricultural heritage,” he said.

Sport with a focus on sustainability

The 2026 edition will once again feature three main categories: long-distance running, short-distance running and trekking, alongside adapted events designed to ensure accessibility and inclusion.

Councillor Samuel Martín said the Wine Run will support local social organisations including Adislan, Grevislan, Integra e Innova, and Asociación Acción Social Creciendo.

Organisers have already confirmed registrations from participants representing more than 30 countries, reinforcing the event’s growing international appeal. Registration remains open until 7 June via the SIPAM Lanzarote website.

Uga to Host the Wine Festival

Alongside the sporting events, the village of Uga will once again host the Wine Festival, offering visitors the opportunity to sample wines from the Lanzarote Designation of Origin, enjoy local cuisine and attend cultural and musical performances throughout the weekend.

Yaiza Mayor Óscar Noda highlighted the municipality’s commitment to the event, noting that significant logistical and financial resources have been invested to prepare the fairgrounds.

Children’s races will take place on Saturday 13 June from 11am, with four different distances organised according to age groups.
