A regular visitor to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote has shared concerns after noticing what they described as a disappointing change during a recent trip to the resort.

Writing for the Daily Express, the traveller explained that Playa Blanca has long been a favourite holiday destination for them and their family, having visited the area regularly since childhood. They described the resort as a “home away from home”, highlighting its mix of British and Irish tourists, seafront bars, familiar supermarket chains and relaxed atmosphere.

The article also praised many of Lanzarote’s best-known attractions, including Timanfaya National Park, the cactus gardens and the Mirador del Río, while noting that recent visits have been more focused on relaxation than sightseeing.

However, during a return visit, the visitor said they noticed that several restaurants around Playa Blanca appeared much quieter than usual despite the resort itself still feeling busy.

According to the report, a number of popular eateries had noticeably fewer diners. Some restaurants were described as being far less crowded than on previous visits.

The writer suggested that more tourists are choosing hotel dining packages instead of eating out at local restaurants.

Despite the observation, the article still praised Playa Blanca’s food scene, describing the resort as home to a wide variety of cuisines including tapas, paella, sushi, curries and Italian dishes.

The visitor also encouraged tourists heading to Playa Blanca to support local restaurants.
