The Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) Vinos de Lanzarote announced that wines from the Lágrima de Malvasía Volcánica winery earned two major distinctions during this year’s edition of the awards.
The winery’s Lágrima de Malvasía Volcánica received the coveted Grand Gold Medal in the white wine category, while Lágrima de Listán Negro secured a Gold Medal in the red wine category.
The International Virtus Awards bring together leading sommeliers, specialist journalists, tasters, and wine professionals from around the world, recognising wines that stand out for their quality, authenticity, and distinctive identity.
The latest awards further reinforce the growing international reputation of Lanzarote wines, which are produced through the island’s unique volcanic viticulture and native grape varieties.
Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Lanzarote Wines PDO Regulatory Council, congratulated the award-winning winery and praised the wider efforts of the island’s wine sector.
“Every international award our wines receive recognises the enormous work carried out by Lanzarote’s winegrowers and winemakers,” he said. “These results show that our wines continue to win over markets and experts thanks to their authenticity, quality, and unique volcanic character.”
He added that success in prestigious international competitions strengthens Lanzarote’s position as a distinctive and internationally recognised wine-producing region.
