Dutch low-cost carrier Transavia has announced it will cancel flights in May and June as a direct result of rising jet fuel prices.

The airline, a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM group, joins a growing list of carriers taking steps to reduce their exposure to high fuel costs and the challenges caused by the US and Israel’s war on Iran.

Transavia explained that the cancellations will affect approximately 2% of its overall schedule, with the stated goal being to “adjust its flight schedule”. In practice, this means cutting routes that have become commercially unattractive due to escalating fuel expenses.

At the time of writing the proposed cuts do not specifically mention Lanzarote.

For the summer season, Transavia currently has four weekly flights scheduled between Lanzarote and Paris Orly Airport, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Regarding the Netherlands, the low-cost carrier offers three weekly flights between Lanzarote and Amsterdam on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, plus another three services to Eindhoven on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
