Fine weather, feathers and sequins, big crowds, smiling faces, drum thunder, irresistible rhythms and hundreds of brilliantly original costumes – Puerto del Carmen’s big carnival parade yesterday couldn’t have been more fantastic.
Puerto del Carmen transformed into a vibrant spectacle of colour and sound yesterday, as thousands lined the Avenida de las Playas for the annual Carnival parade.
Kicking off at 5pm, the procession wound its way from the Barcarola Club Hotel down to Plus Fariones. Locals and tourists alike were treated to a dazzling display of creativity as masqueraders, floats, dance troupes, batucadas, and murgas filled the streets with their ingenuity, music, and fantasy.
The event showcased an impressive variety of participating groups, all of whom pulled out all the stops with their elaborate choreography, stunning costumes, and infectious rhythms. The thunderous energy of the batucadas provided some of the most memorable moments, while the dance troupes and murgas kept the crowds smiling with their theatrical performances and humour.
The festivities continued well into the night at the Plaza del Varadero, where a massive open-air dance kept the party alive until the early hours. Attendees were treated to performances by Dani Valiente and his band, Armonía Show, El Combo Dominicano, and Rikabanda, who delivered a diverse and energetic musical repertoire that ensured no one left the dance floor.
