St. Patrick’s Day on Lanzarote is more than just a fantastic afternoon. The festive spirit lasts all week, with many visitors arriving specifically for the days leading up to the Saint’s Day. Here’s what you can expect from some of Puerto del Carmen’s most popular Irish pubs:

The festivities kick off on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 10th, with the opening of the Cheltenham Festival. This marks the start of four days of thrilling racing, featuring seven races each afternoon and culminating in the iconic Gold Cup on Friday.

Cheltenham has long shared a special bond with Ireland, and local pubs and bars will be fully immersed in the action, showing every race live.

NELLY’S

With over 20 years in business, Nelly’s is a bar that’s sure to be full of atmosphere during St. Patrick’s week. The bar, tucked away in the little square of C.C. Olivin, will kick off by showing the Cheltenham Festival with live music in the evenings. The lead up to St. Patrick’s Day will feature live acts all day.

They will also have a stall down at the Plaza del Varadero, so be sure to say hello if you’re dropping by.

MURPHY’S

Following the takeover of O’Brien’s and The Flying Dutchman, Murphy’s is now bigger and better than ever before.

To celebrate, the Irish pub will be celebrating in style, broadcasting the Cheltenham Festival on its 30 big TV screens every day from the 10th – 13th. The racing will be followed by live music every night from the 10th – 13th with performances from Louise C, Vinnie Collins, Fiddlesticks, Hannah Grace, Jon Gold, Mick Garry, and John Shannon. You’d be a fool to miss it!

Following Cheltenham, Murphy’s will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with live music from 5pm to 1am on March 17th, with performances from special guests.

Join in the fun at Murphy’s at Avenida de las Playas, 31. If you can’t make the fun this year, Murphy’s has you covered with live music every night from 6:30pm to 1am.

MAGUIRES

Under new ownership, Tony from Cork and all the Maguires staff welcome you! Maguires Irish Bar is ready to rock and roll this St. Patrick’s Day with live music from award-winning entertaining Anton Glackin, “The Wild Rover On Tour”, from 9:30pm until late.

Of course, the bar’s big TV screens will also be showing the Cheltenham festival too. And there’ll be a great selection of home cooked foods throughout the celebrations.

CRAIC N’ CEOL

A year after celebrating its 30th anniversary, the ever-popular Craic N’ Ceol bar will kick off the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th with live music from 6pm til 1am, performed by artists including Vinnie & Sarah, Mick Bennett, Conor Sloane, Jordan Kay and special guests.

On the big day itself, Tuesday 17th, the live music will start at 3pm and run until 1am, with performances from Al Murphy, Jordan Kay, Mick Bennett, Conor Sloane and special guests throughout the day.

THE IRISH ROVER & BRENNAN’S BAR

With top class entertainment on throughout St. Patrick’s Day, The Irish Rover & Brennan’s Bar are the places to be this coming March 17th.

Both bars sport top class entertainment, hosts & everything Irish! On St. Patrick’s Day at The Irish Rover you can expect a full day of music and craic with performances from Mary Gray, Stefan Walker & John Shannon, as well as a Trad session at 1pm.

PADDY’S POINT

This loved-by-all, family-owned Irish bar in the heart of Puerto del Carmen is gearing up for a fantastic St. Patrick’s Day celebration with class acts throughout the big day.

On Tuesday 17th, Paddy’s Point will bring a massive 12 hours of back-to-back live music from 12pm – 12am, with performances from Mick Garry (12pm), Martin McCormack (2pm), Billy Cusack (4pm), Hannah Grace (6pm), Willie O’Keefe (8pm) & Caravan Club (10pm). You can also enjoy food from their kitchen which will be open until 8pm, and their Happy Hour specials from 4pm – 6pm.

THE BUCKET LIST & FIRE HOUSE

Owners Áine & Nathan will be celebrating the Cheltenham Festival & St. Patrick’s Day at both bars!

The Fire House will have live music on the 17th from 7pm with popular musician Al Murphy – and The Bucket List will have live music on the same day from 6pm with Danny.

You’ll also find the team from both bars down at the Plaza del Varadero on all three days of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, manning their stall and serving lots of eager customers. Come and say hello!

Coming up to two years in business in June, owners Brendan & Michelle of The Aul Shillelagh are ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day once again on Calle Reina Sofía, 1.

This will be The Aul Shillelagh’s second St. Patrick’s Day, and you can be sure that it will be even better than last year. The bar sports a pool table, darts board & large TV’s so that you won’t miss any of the action during the Cheltenham Festival.

With over 10 years in business, Dicey Reilly’s is a staple in Puerto del Carmen. Owned by Brendan Byrne, one of the driving forces behind the St. Patrick’s celebrations, you can be sure that Dicey Reilly’s will be bouncing on March 17th.

The Cheltenham Festival will be shown live at the bar, across numerous TV’s with live acoustic sessions afterwards. Following that there will be a selection of fantastic live music:
