Buses to be charged for parking at Lanzarote Airport next year

Buses and coaches picking up passengers from the airport will have to pay car park rates from next year.

From January 15^th, buses will have the first hour free but will have to pay the full parking rate if they exceed that time limit. However, this will only apply for the first three months, and full rates will be charged from entry after April 15^th. An entry barrier system and payment station will be installed in the bus parking zone.

According to AENA, the fees will be charged because “the space designated for this type of transport, in a privileged location near the terminal, must operate in an agile manner, without prolonged parking, to avoid blocking the scarce available space, and to facilitate its use by all transport companies that require it.”

Bus operators are currently negotiating with airport management in an attempt to paralyse the measure.
