A hiker was rescued on Monday afternoon after falling at Los Ajaches.
Emergency services were called at approximately 3pm.
According to reports, the injured hiker was located at Los Ajaches, accompanied by her husband and the individual who raised the alarm. Due to the complex and inaccessible terrain, an air evacuation by helicopter was initially coordinated.
The rescue plan was altered after both the injured woman, and her companion declined the method of evacuation. The aerial operation was subsequently cancelled.
Specialist ground teams then responded to the scene. They successfully immobilised the woman’s ankle and transported her via stretcher to a nearby off-road vehicle.
She was later transported by ambulance to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife for further treatment.
