Lanzarote has had half as much rain in 2025 as in the same period of 2024. This year looks set to be one of the driest and warmest of the century.

Figures from the Cabildo’s Statistics Centre show that the island had received 23 mms of rain by the end of November, compared to 45.9 mms in the same period of 2024. If no heavy rains arrive by the end of the year, 2025 is likely to be the driest year of the century.

March was the wettest month in both years, the only one in which the number of days on which rain was registered reached double figures.

Average temperatures on the island have fallen very slightly this year, mainly as a result of a cooler than usual start to the year, but the island is still on course to see one of the five warmest years this century. While winter and spring were cooler than 2024, the summer months from June to September were notably hotter, peaking at a monthly average of 26.8 degrees Celsius in August.
