Emerlan volunteers saved the life of a German man who had suffered from a heart attack at Teguise Market on Sunday.
After responding to a report that a man had collapsed in the Plaza de la Constitución, the Emerlan paramedics carried out resuscitation procedures, including five controlled electric shocks with a defibrillator.
Once a pulse had been re-established, the victim was rushed to the Dr José Molina Orosa hospital in Arrecife.
Emerlan have praised the prompt response of bystanders, whose use of first aid procedures were critically important.
