A 71-year-old British tourist was rescued after falling on Montaña Roja yesterday.
Emergency services received a call at midday informing them that a walker had fallen and could not proceed. Local police, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene.
The woman was placed in a support stretcher and carried to an ambulance, then transferred to the Dr José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife. The ascent of the 180-metre Montaña Roja is a popular walk among Playa Blanca holidaymakers, most of whom navigate the stony trails without any problem.
