This Saturday, September 27th, nearly 500 swimmers will take to the water for the 29th edition of the Travesia A Nado Del Rio. It’s the annual swimming contest from Lanzarote’s Playa del Risco to La Graciosa.
The event’s presentation was attended by key figures including the Minister of Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Monzón; the mayor and sports councillor of Teguise, Olivia Duque and Alejandro Ramírez; and the sports councillor of Haría, Alberto de León. They were joined by the defending champions, Natalia Sasu and Juan Carlos Vallejo.
“Without a doubt, we are facing a special weekend, with this 29th edition of one of the star swimming events on the island’s sporting calendar,” said Minister Monzón, who thanked the town councils and the public for their continued support. He highlighted the phenomenal demand, confirming that tickets sold out “in just seven minutes.”
The race will see 477 adult swimmers – 309 men and 168 women – along with 23 minors, take on the challenging crossing.
“The speed with which tickets sold out demonstrates the high level of interest in this event, not only among island residents but also among dozens of people who are traveling here this weekend to enjoy this race,” Monzón added.
