Tías Mayor José Juan Cruz has met with the Canarian Minister of Road Infrastructure to call for various improvements, including the renovation of Calle Fajardo.
Calle Fajardo connects Tías’s central avenue with Los Lirios via a narrow underpass that runs beneath the LZ-2 main road. A pavement that is too small for a pram or wheelchair is the only pedestrian access.
Cruz called for action to “guarantee road safety, universal access and pedestrian mobility in a strategic zone of the municipality.”
The only other way for pedestrians to cross the LZ-2 in Tías is via an ugly, smelly pedestrian underpass with no disabled access used by hundreds of schoolchildren each day.
