The municipality of Tías celebrated a dynamic and active summer, with its programme of sporting events drawing participation from more than 2,500 people.

The diverse activities, which included beach events at Playa Grande, tournaments at the municipal sports centre, and specialised sports camps across Tías and Puerto del Carmen, were met with enthusiastic response throughout the holiday season.

The success of the programme was highlighted by local officials. The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, expressed his satisfaction, stating the events were “so diverse that they allowed everyone to find something to suit them.”

The Councillor for Sports, Ismael Cruz, emphasised the community and health benefits of the initiative, noting that families and young people “took advantage of a wide and healthy range of activities that promote the values of sport and strengthen our community.”

The event calendar was punctuated by major tournaments, including:

  • The IV National Padel Challenger at Hyde Park Lane
  • The Domingo Robayna Memorial indoor soccer tournament
  • The Beach Volleyball Tournament at Playa Grande
  • The 11th Barranco del Quíquere Fun Run in La Tiñosa
  • The 1st La Tiñosa Swimming Crossing in El Poril
  • The 7th Mike Wheeler Memorial
  • The 2nd “Fiestas de Ntra. Sra. del Carmen” Football Tournament and the Goalkeeper Battle
  • The Beach Football Tournament
  • The Fitness Race Tías
  • The 2nd “Fight Against Cancer” Charity Tournament
  • The Freediving Ocean Cup in Puerto del Carmen
