48-year-old man dies after falling from hotel balcony in Gran Canaria

A 48-year-old man from Gran Canaria died in the island’s capital, Las Palmas, after reportedly falling from a hotel balcony while taking a selfie.

The man fell from the eighth-floor roof of the Aloe Canteras Hotel, overlooking Las Palmas’s famous Playa de las Canteras, after climbing over the railing to take a photo of himself with the beach in the background.  

According to witnesses, he lost his balance and fell to the concrete promenade, where he died.
