Police cameras installed in Puerto del Carmen last September have counted over 5 million vehicles on the roads – an average of around 1.7 million journeys a month.

The cameras, located on Calle Juan Carlos I, on Calle Noruega and on the Rambla Islas Canarias, have registered that 86% of vehicles are cars, 9.7% were vans, 1.7% lorries and 0.8% coaches and buses. Around 0.02% of vehicles were bicycles, although the lack of number plates on bikes has made this figure more difficult to establish.

The surveillance will continue into 2025, and the information will be used to decide future traffic control measures in the resort.
