36 expropriations of land will be required to create rights of way for a new photovoltaic energy park in Tías.

Earlier this week the Canarian Government gave the green light to the solar park, which will be operated by the RS Iberia 23 company.

It will be located near Mácher and consist of 1,680 solar panel units placed over an area of 28,271 square metres. These will produce one Megawatt of energy.

Objections to the project can be lodged until January 8th and are expected to come from local residents. Tías Ayuntamiento has also stated that it is “absolutely against” the project, claiming that it is a private initiative that will have “no public and social benefit to citizens.”
