A report by HostelTur has revealed that air connectivity to the Canary Islands has increased by an average of 13% for trips from September until the end of the year.
United Kingdom leading the pack
Last year, a total of 5.7 million British tourists arrived on the islands, making it the Canaries’ main outbound market, ahead of Germans and Spaniards. In the last four months alone, according to data from AENA, the number of passengers was 1.9 million, which represents 65.7% of the total.
By number of operations (take-offs and landing to or from Britain) from September to October last year, Jet2 came first, followed by Ryanair and EasyJet.
Air connectivity from the UK to the Canaries has increased by 12% from September to December this year.
German market stable as Nordic market increases
In addition to the increase in air connectivity from the UK, Nordic countries have also seen an increase in supply for the last four months of 2024. Especially from Sweden, which has seen an average increase of 15% & Norway equals the UK’s increase of 12%.
