A new Lidl supermarket opened its doors this Thursday in Argana as part of the German supermarket’s expansion on the island.
The new Lidl is located next to the C.C. Argana and reportedly cost almost 5 million euros to construct and equip and will create 40 jobs.
It has a floorspace of more than 1,440 square metres and will offer what you would expect from Lidl including fresh products, refrigerated goods, dry goods, drinks, cosmetics, cleaning supplies and more.
Lidl also sells local products such as cheese from Queseria El Faro, salt from the Salinas de Janubio, Batatitos (local crisps) from La Florita and in the coming weeks will add Antigua Malvasía Volcánica from Bodega La Geria to its range of Canarian wines.
It will be open Monday to Sunday from 8:30am until 10pm with more than 90 parking spaces available.
Lidl stated that the new supermarket has been constructed “under strict sustainability standards and incorporates several energy efficiency measures such as 3 free charging points for electric vehicles, LED lighting and, among others”.
Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, along with the Vice President of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, visited the opening of the supermarket this Thursday.
This latest edition is Lidl’s fourth supermarket on the island with two in Arrecife, one in Playa Honda and another in Puerto del Carmen. The 5th supermarket will open this year in Playa Blanca.
