After five years of climbing, the Hang On Lanzarote Climbing centre is set to close its doors for good at the end of the month, February 29th.

From February 29th the climbing centre will no longer be open, as the centre’s lease has expired and renewal isn’t an option according to the centre’s owners, “although the landlord has offered us to move to the back of the warehouse, this is not viable option.”.

For five years the centre hasn’t received “any financial help from the government and it has been a struggle…but we have had many exciting and fulfilling times in those five years.”.

Since opening the centre has welcomed more than 40,000 keen climbers and worked with schools and local associations to teach children about the art of rock climbing and bouldering.

Before closing the centre will be hosting the Campeonato Canarias 2024 on the 2nd & 3rd of March before closing for good. “Please come along to watch the last event that we will be hosting.”.

The centre has appealed to “ayuntamientos, sports facilities, entrepreneurs and the Cabildo” regarding interest in taking on the climbing centre and asks for any interest to be communicated via email at lanzaroteocodromo@gmail.com.
