Arrecife will receive 15 cruises and approximately 52,000 passengers in the last week of November, according to the Las Palmas Port Authority.
Last week, the Azamara Pursuit cruise ship arrived at the Arrecife port for the first time, on its way to South Africa.
The Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councillor for Tourism and Commerce, Eli Merino, together with representatives of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, visited the cruise ship and handed over a souvenir to commemorate its first stopover in the capital.
De León highlighted once again that the cruise ships stopovers in Arrecife boosts the economic and employment activity of the sectors linked to cruise tourism.
The mayor also expressed his excitement after the announcement that a well-known emerging Spanish franchise will open on Calle Real in the coming weeks, focused on cruise ship passengers.
This brand, which has a presence in the major airports of Spain, is setting up for the first time in Lanzarote and is doing so by opening a shop in the centrally located Calle Real.
Tourism and Commerce Councillor, Eli Merino added that during every weekend his department promotes activities to support small businesses.
Likewise, the Tourism Department of Arrecife, has activated several activities on days with cruise ship stopovers in the port.
Arrecife’s port has seen the largest growth in the arrival of ships during the current cruise season within the Canaries, according to data from the Las Palmas Port Authority.
