Lanzarote’s wine harvest is expected to at least match the amount harvested last year, according to the island’s Wine Council.

While rains in the winter months remained under average, they were sufficient to help a harvest that is expected to match or exceed last year’s total of 2 million kilos of grapes.

The council based its prediction on observation of shoots in wine-growing areas. However, as always, the harvest still remains at risk from an early summer heatwave.

A normal harvest will allow wine makers to restock. Huge demand for wines in recent months means that some bodegas are expected to run out of wine supplies from previous years.
